Take it Easy

It remained overcast on Saturday as temperatures only peaked at 20C with strong winds of 30-40km/hr, but that didn’t keep me from a ride along the Yarra.  I cruised through part of the 5ha that is Alexandra Gardens where there was a beautiful war memorial, but I missed the famed star flower bed.  I stopped to take a few snaps, but my camera battery went out. Dumb, for not checking.  I’ll need to make my way back today.  I also rode through Melbourne and Olympic Parks, which were vast and home to many sports arena and stadiums for cricket, rugby and that Rod Laver one too with all venues playing host to a plethora of music concerts.

The St. Kilda Festival started today! My timing to be in this area seems to be spot on. It runs for a week celebrating local music, art and culture.  I believe it is an alcohol free event, which is pretty lame; however it is a free public offering.  Of course this didn’t stop me from seeing many folks bringing their own drinks, which event staff seemed to turn a blind eye to.  I’ll know better for next time. I went down to O’Donnell Gardens to check out Radical Son.  It was a dub/rock steady/reggae vibe, which lead to dancing in the Gardens alongside a variety of folks.  Not bad.

Acland St. was a stir with many people for Saturday night fun. Although abuzz from the dancing, I was low on energy from failing to eat anything all day. I picked up a take-away pizza from Renix, a local wood burning resto and heading home to dine before retiring for an early evening.

The sun and clear blue skies have returned after a 3 day hiatus today. Although it’s only around 20C, I think it deserves a trip to the beach to round out my now ever so trendy ‘rural’ tan, check out festival happenings, peruse through the Sunday market, hop on a bike ride and snap those pics.

BTW, check out some links from the Aloe Blacc concert here and here. I'm standing about 5ft from the latter video and my silhouette is  the 2nd person in from the lower front right hand side of the frame beside the guy with the Robert Plant lid. Check it out!
