The Long and Winding Road

Alas, my feet are planted in Melbourne! After spending more than a day on a plane, plus a few hours at HKIA, I arrived shortly before 11:00p local time.

All things considered, it wasn’t too bad of a journey.  Cathay Pacific was first rate with efficient service.  It kinda helped that I was still hung-over from my last night in the city, because sleep came quickly.  I managed knock off more than half of the 16hr leg to Hong Kong.  Despite being in the last row, I had leg room and a seat that reclined.  I was in REM through dinner service, but when brekkie rolled around the flight attendant must have known that I was peckish, at it seems I was served first in the cabin.  That’s attentive service. Thankfully, I had some baked goodness from Mark to hold me over.  Yummy!

Upon arrival in Hong Kong, I began to feel a little swelling develop in my throat, before the coughing ensued.  Blast! Fortunately, I packed enough meds to curb this behaviour.

Of course, to no one’s surprise, I think I may have over packed. This also included a last minute jaunt to Chris’ to swap backpacks.  Hey, don’t hate me for being beautiful, er prepared?  I did have 3 separate cull sessions with belongings.  Nevertheless, I imagine I’ll be shipping shit home before leaving Melbourne.
Upon clearing customs and Sky Bus ride to South Cross Station, then tram ride to St. Kilda, I reached my first nomadic check point at 62 Grey St.  A cute little mod Studio apartment in an old mansion, about 500sf, plus a step out balcony. After getting settled, popped a Melatonin and hit the sack.
